Zachary Bogue

Co-Founder and Managing Partner · DCVC

Deep tech Seed

Why watch

He co-founded DCVC on the bet that systems thinking from environmental science plus deep tech can tackle urgent real-world problems, and still invests on it.

Zachary Bogue studied environmental science and public policy at Harvard University, and DCVC says the systems-level thinking of that field, combined with deep tech, is what led him to co-found the firm in 2010. He is a co-managing partner across DCVC's funds, after more than 20 years in California's Silicon Valley as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, adviser and angel investor.

Georgetown and The Tax Lawyer

He graduated from Harvard with honors, then earned a law degree with honors from Georgetown University, where he was executive editor of The Tax Lawyer, a law journal.

Methane, nuclear and drug discovery

His investments span computational drug discovery, nuclear energy, algorithmic finance, synthetic biology, geospatial platforms and applied AI for climate, including methane abatement and carbon transformation. His earlier venture investments include Square, AngelList and Uber.

World Economic Forum and nonprofit boards

The World Economic Forum selected him as a Young Global Leader, and he hosts an annual Deep Tech in Davos event in Davos, Switzerland.

He serves on the nonprofit boards of the East Palo Alto Charter School in East Palo Alto, California, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, California.
