Sid Smith founded SRS Counsel, a law firm that served as general counsel to Syncom Venture Partners and the National Association of Investment Companies. He also co-founded Non Sibi Ventures, where he is a general partner and chief business and compliance officer.

He was a partner in the corporate and securities group at K&L Gates and a senior associate at Cooley. In 2011 he co-founded Discourse Analytics, a data analytics company.

He was a founding board member and fellow of the Pahara Institute, which develops diverse leaders in public education, and is vice chair of the board of Alder Graduate School of Education. He holds a B.A. in English from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
