Inception Early stage AI

Why watch

Mayfield's managing partner treats company building as a marathon, and is steering the firm's AI investing from a company's first day.

"I believe that company building is a marathon, not a sprint, and that crisis can be an opportunity for the bold," says Navin Chaddha, the managing partner of Mayfield. A former streaming media entrepreneur, he has appeared on the Forbes Midas List of top tech investors 18 times, with investments that include HashiCorp, Lyft and Poshmark.

IIT Delhi, Stanford and VXtreme

He earned a B.Tech in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi in New Delhi, India, and an MS in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

As an entrepreneur he co-founded or led three startups: VXtreme, a streaming media company that Microsoft acquired and turned into Windows Media; Rivio, later CPA.com, a SaaS provider for small businesses; and iBeam Broadcasting, a streaming content delivery network.

Leading Mayfield

Under his leadership Mayfield has raised eight U.S. funds and now invests in AI founders from inception through Series B. "I partner with entrepreneurs who want to change the way people work, live, and play," he says on his Mayfield page.

His current AI portfolio includes Hang Ten Systems, which builds and modernizes software for large companies with small AI-assisted engineering teams. The company was founded by former Infosys chief executive Vishal Sikka, and Mayfield led its first seed round in 2026.
