Intercom

Customer messaging platform whose AI agent, Fin, answers and routes support conversations on top of a help desk.

7.2/10
Overall Score
Conditional recommend

Intercom is a solid buy when support already lives there and Fin can resolve a measurable slice of volume. Resolution pricing needs a baseline, or the agent becomes an unreviewed surcharge.

Best for

Support teams on Intercom that can point an agent at a maintained help center and measure resolutions.

Not ideal for

Companies whose help desk is elsewhere and will not move, or teams with no maintained knowledge base.

Verdict

Use Intercom's agent when the inbox is already Intercom and the help center is current. Price it on resolutions you would have staffed, with a human path for the rest. A thin knowledge base produces confident wrong answers. Skip it as a rip-and-replace of another help desk, or if nobody owns the articles the agent reads.

Review Excerpts

Below are excerpts from public reviews. Our team scoured public reviews, forums, and chat rooms to get a balanced view of customers' experience with this company. Paid reviews and pay-for-play sites such as Clutch were excluded.

How it’s used

“We use Fin as our first line of customer support inside Intercom. It answers common customer questions automatically and performs basic troubleshooting. When a request is more complex, Fin passes the conversation to a human agent with full context.”

What people like

“We like that customers can decide if the question has been resolved by the bot, or if they still require support from a human - ensuring that customers are not left without help.”

What people don’t like

“Using Fin on emails has been a bit of a struggle. This doesn't format or behave as well as it does through the chat.”

What people don’t like

“Sometimes Fin can provide incorrect information when using previous conversations as a source; this is one of the few downsides, as teammates can sometimes make mistakes.”
