Alter

Seed Security, safety & guardrails
Why watch Dandamuraju wants production agents to get seconds-lived, least-privilege credentials with parameter-level checks instead of long-lived root keys.

Srikar Dandamuraju is cofounder and CEO of Alter, a New York City company building zero-trust identity and access control for AI agents. Alter sits in the path of tool calls: verify identity, authorize parameters against policy, issue short-lived scoped credentials, block unsafe actions before they hit production, and keep an audit trail. Dandamuraju and cofounder Kevan Dodhia joined the YC Summer 2025 batch and later announced a $4.8M seed led by Fortify Fund.

Goldman platforms and acquired infra chops

Dandamuraju was a platform lead at Goldman Sachs, where he helped scale GSAM post-trade infrastructure from single to multi-cluster and worked on the GM Card launch. Before Goldman he engineered at Addepar and Clear Street. Dodhia was technical cofounder of Compute.ai, which built a compute engine sold into regulated enterprises including LSEG and was later acquired.

Privileged access for agents, not blanket root

Alter's Launch YC writeup frames the enterprise bind: long-lived secrets and over-scoped service accounts let a single leak or prompt injection become a DROP TABLE or oversized payment, while security reviews drag because least privilege is hard to enforce on agents. Their answer is privileged access management purpose-built for agents - MCP and native tool connectors, parameter-level RBAC/ABAC, ephemeral tokens, and a CISO-facing dashboard for SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR-minded teams.
