Sarthak Jain

Co-founder and CEO

Nanonets

Document AISan Francisco, California
Why watch Jain is betting that AI agents only become useful at work when they can read the invoices, contracts and forms that businesses still run on.

Sarthak Jain is co-founder and chief executive of Nanonets, a company in San Francisco, California, whose AI reads business documents such as invoices and purchase orders and moves the data into a company’s systems. He has worked on commercial machine learning products for about 15 years, according to his Foundry speaker biography.

Founding Nanonets

Jain and Prathamesh Juvatkar, both machine learning engineers, founded Nanonets in Y Combinator’s 2017 cohort, according to Bloomberg. His YC profile says he “enjoys being wrong about AI products being mainstream since 2010.” The company’s software handles back-office jobs such as invoice processing, which it estimates takes an employee about 12 minutes per invoice. Nanonets says its product cuts that to one minute.

“The internet was going to kill paper, but businesses today are producing more documents than ever,” Jain said when Nanonets raised a $29 million Series B led by Accel in 2024. “Millions of highly-skilled professionals are stuck looking for needles in haystacks.”
