AI code review Ex-Tessian
Sanglé-Ferrière is building cubic so code review keeps up with the volume of code that AI tools now write.
Paul Sanglé-Ferrière is co-founder of cubic, an AI code review company in London, United Kingdom, that he started in 2025 with Allis Yao. Y Combinator lists him as a three-time founder who earlier worked as a machine learning engineer and product manager at Tessian, the email security company.
Why code review became the bottleneck
The founders had worked together before and hit the problem themselves. “As we adopted more AI code gen tools, code review and ensuring quality quickly became our biggest bottleneck,” they wrote in their Y Combinator launch post. cubic reviews each pull request with context from the whole codebase.
On cubic's blog he described how the team cut false positives by splitting review into narrow agents, one for planning, one for security, one for duplicated code, and one for typos and documentation. The company sells to teams with complex codebases. “Our users have high standards,” he wrote when sharing a rebuild of the detection engine on Hacker News.
