Matthew Ocko has been building technology since 1983. He founded Da Vinci Systems, an early email software company whose product reached more than one million users before it was acquired, and later co-founded DCVC, a deep tech venture firm in Palo Alto and San Francisco, California, where he is a co-managing partner.

Physics, patents and Da Vinci Systems

He holds a physics degree from Yale University and is an inventor on more than 50 granted or pending patents. At Da Vinci Systems he was vice president of research and development.

From Zoom and Uber to quantum computing

Before DCVC he invested in Zoom, Fortinet, D-Wave Systems, Uber, AngelList, XenSource and Facebook. At DCVC his investments span energy, manufacturing, agriculture, computational drug discovery, synthetic biology, geospatial and space platforms, robotics, applied AI, defense, quantum computing and large-scale computing, work the firm frames as advancing the security and prosperity of the United States.

In December 2025 he wrote DCVC's post on Mythic, the analog AI chip company, raising $125 million.
