Why watch

Vaidya met his co-founder at a physics olympiad camp in India and later built distributed systems at Rubrik. As CTO of Composio he runs the layer that lets AI agents sign in to tools such as GitHub, Slack and Salesforce, now handling about 10 million tool calls a day.

Karan Vaidya is co-founder and chief technology officer of Composio, a San Francisco, California, company that gives AI agents managed access to the software their teams already use. He started it in 2023 with Soham Ganatra.

Meeting Soham Ganatra in 2012

Vaidya and Ganatra met at a physics olympiad camp in 2012 and later became roommates at IIT Bombay, where Vaidya earned a BTech in computer science in 2017, according to Titan. The two tried an earlier venture together in 2019.

Engineering at Rubrik

After graduating, Vaidya spent two years as a software engineer at Rubrik, the data security company. He then became the second hire at Nirvana Insurance before he and Ganatra started Composio.

Building the Action Layer for Agents

Composio lets an agent sign in to and act in tools such as GitHub, Slack and Salesforce, with managed authentication and sandboxed execution. The company started in Bengaluru, India, where it still keeps an engineering team, and its open-source SDK has more than 30,000 stars on GitHub. As of October 2026 it served more than 500 customers, including AWS, Zoom and Glean, and handled 10 million tool calls a day with a team of about 50 people.

Learning to Give Hard Feedback

After Composio's Series A, Vaidya went looking for an executive coach who understood the CTO job. The coaching changed how he gives feedback. "Before I started with my coach I was not the most candid person at giving hard feedback," he said. "I used to think that if I cared about a person I would not want them to feel bad. It's the other way around. If I care a lot about that person, I'll give them candid feedback and make them improve." He also borrowed his coach's view that "people can rally only behind stories, they can't rally behind facts," and now frames problems as stories when he needs to align his team.
