Jonathan Widawski is co-founder and CEO of Maze, the product-research platform he started with Thomas Mary in 2018. A former UX lead and teacher who had worked with clients like McKinsey and Rocket Internet, he built Maze to make unmoderated testing and continuous discovery available beyond the biggest research teams.

From Ping prototypes to Maze

In a Seedcamp interview Widawski recounts building Maze while he and Mary were still working on Ping, a messaging app for gamers. They needed insight from an InVision prototype before writing production code, so they put analytics on the prototype and realized the research tool was the real company.

Democratizing product research

As CEO of Maze he has raised through Series B and positioned the product around rapid testing, surveys, and insight sharing for product and design teams. His public writing frames research as a habit every user-centric team should keep, not a luxury reserved for enterprises with dedicated labs.
