Magic Patterns

Why watch

Danilowicz is building Magic Patterns for product teams that need a clickable prototype from a brief or screenshot, not another static mood board.

Alex Danilowicz is co-founder of Magic Patterns, an AI prototyping company in San Francisco, California, that went through Y Combinator in Winter 2023 with Teddy Ni.

Growing Up Around a Tortilleria in Tijuana

According to Magic Patterns' Y Combinator profile, entrepreneurship runs in Danilowicz's family: his grandfather founded a tortilleria in Tijuana, Mexico, in the 1970s that still operates. Danilowicz was previously the first employee at another YC startup before starting Magic Patterns.

Co-founding Magic Patterns with Teddy Ni

Ni came from early roles at Canopy, a YC company, and at Robinhood before its IPO, where he worked closely with design on product interfaces. Together they aimed Magic Patterns at the gap between visual inspiration sites and code assistants that are not visual.

Building Magic Patterns for Product Teams

The company's tool lets product managers, founders, and designers prompt inside a visual editor, optionally against a design system, and get interactive prototypes they can share. Magic Patterns says thousands of product teams use it to iterate on ideas and collect feedback before engineering builds, per the YC company page.
