GRC Compliance

Why watch

Choudhury turned stalled SOC 2 sales calls into Scrut, a mid-market compliance automation platform that collects evidence across many frameworks at once.

Aayush Ghosh Choudhury is co-founder and CEO of Scrut, the compliance automation company based in Mountain View. An IIT Ropar and ISB graduate who worked at McKinsey and PandoCorp, he is known for building Scrut after enterprise buyers kept blocking his earlier procurement product on SOC 2.

IIT, ISB, McKinsey, then supply chain software

Choudhury trained as a mechanical engineer at IIT Ropar and completed an MBA at the Indian School of Business. At McKinsey he worked in restructuring and healthcare practices, then moved into product work at PandoCorp on supply chain software. Those roles taught him how enterprise friction shows up late in a deal - a lesson that became the seed of Scrut.

From Gomigo to Scrut

In 2020, while pitching procurement software, buyers kept asking whether the company was SOC 2 compliant. The team built an internal tool to collect evidence and map controls, then realized the tool was the product. Scrut Automation launched in November 2021 from that pivot, with co-founders Jayesh Gadewar and Kush Kaushik covering engineering and audit expertise. The company has raised on the order of $20 million, including a Series A led by Lightspeed and MassMutual Ventures, and positions Scrut as continuous GRC for cloud-native mid-market teams.

On building the company you had to build

In founder materials he has said Scrut was not the company they planned to build - it was the one they had to build when security questionnaires killed deals. Public talks keep returning to making compliance move at software speed instead of spreadsheet speed.
