Machine learning Patents
Gharbi believes intellectual property should be a strategic asset for companies, not a cost center, and she leads the technology behind Ankar's AI patent platform.
“We are trying to turn IP that has been viewed as a cost center for a very long time into more of a strategic and competitive asset,” Wiem Gharbi told Fortune in 2025. She is co-founder and CTO of Ankar, a London, United Kingdom company building AI tools that take inventions from idea to granted patent.
Machine Learning at Palantir
Gharbi is a data scientist by training and worked on machine learning applications at Palantir, Fortune reported. Ankar's about page lists her Palantir roles in the CEO's office, product, and strategy, and Tech.eu wrote that she helped adapt Palantir's platforms to real-world business needs.
From Palantir to Ankar
At Palantir, Gharbi and Tamar Gomez saw how long it took to patent new technology, and in 2024 they started Ankar to fix it. The product now connects internal research with scientific literature, patents, and competitor activity, then carries that work into drafting and prosecution.
Building the Platform
Ankar says its customers report an average 40% gain in productivity. In one client example, it turned a seed document and two hand-drawn sketches into a complete invention disclosure in under two hours. The company raised a $20 million Series A led by Atomico in December 2025.
