Together AI
Vipul Ved Prakash is co-founder and CEO of Together AI, the AI cloud he launched in 2022 to give researchers and companies a place to train, fine-tune, and run open models on serious GPU capacity. A serial entrepreneur behind Vipul's Razor, Cloudmark, and Topsy (acquired by Apple), he frames Together as infrastructure for an open ecosystem rather than another closed assistant brand.
Open-source and anti-spam before the AI boom
Raised in New Delhi and active early in India's internet scene, Prakash became known for Vipul's Razor, the collaborative anti-spam system that earned him a place on MIT Technology Review's TR35 list. He co-founded Cloudmark with Napster's Jordan Ritter, then founded Topsy, the social-search company Apple bought in 2013, after which he led search-related engineering at Apple and introduced iOS Search APIs on the WWDC stage.
Founding Together for open models and GPUs
In interviews he has said the founding spark was watching research show models solving hard programming tasks while academics still struggled to get GPU time — "The cloud was built for CPU computing. GPU access was expensive and limited." Together grew into a full-stack cloud for inference, fine-tuning, and clusters, with open datasets such as RedPajama as part of the public story of lowering the barrier to participation.
