Champion is building Klap so creators can turn long videos into captioned shorts in minutes without assembling a chain of separate editing tools.
Theo Champion is co-founder and chief executive of Klap, an AI video clipping company in Paris, France. He co-founded the company with Victor Timsit under Zigg SAS, where Champion serves as president and Timsit as general manager.
Automating Short-Form Editing at Klap
In a Google Cloud customer story, Champion said that as repurposed short-form video spread, stronger language models and transcription tools made it possible to automate the tedious parts of editing. Users upload long videos; Klap finds moments worth clipping, reframes them vertically, and returns shorts ready to download or tweak.
Scaling Klap on Google Cloud
The same case study says Klap grew to millions of users while a small engineering team managed infrastructure on Google Cloud. Champion has emphasized reliability so the team can stay focused on Klap rather than fighting video transcoding costs and traffic spikes.
Keeping Klap Clip-First in Paris
Klap prices by clips per month and targets creators who want a focused clipping tool rather than a full social studio. Champion and Timsit continue to present the company as a way to turn hours of editing into minutes for podcasts, talks, and other long recordings.
