Stephen Whitworth
Co-founder and CEO
incident.io
Stephen Whitworth is co-founder and CEO of incident.io, the incident-management company he started with Chris Evans and Pete Hamilton after years of living through broken on-call tooling at Monzo. The trio met as engineers there; Whitworth had previously co-founded Ravelin, the fraud-detection company, before joining Monzo and then spinning incident.io out of that shared pain.
From accounting offer to Monzo incidents
Company materials say Whitworth nearly became an accountant with a graduate offer from Ernst & Young, taught himself to code instead, and worked through startups including Ravelin before landing at Monzo. At Monzo he lived through incident management that never quite fit how modern engineering teams work in Slack.
With Evans and Hamilton he founded incident.io in 2021 to make coordinating response, status, and follow-up feel like a first-class product rather than a pile of spreadsheets and pager glue.
Building a Slack-native incident company
As CEO he has raised multiple rounds, including a Series B led by Insight Partners, and kept the product centered on running incidents where engineers already collaborate. The founding story the company still tells is straightforward: three Monzo engineers who decided the category deserved a purpose-built tool.
