Sabashan Ragavan

Sabashan Ragavan is co-founder and CEO of HeyMilo, a company in New York, New York, that makes AI agents that screen job applicants by text, phone, voice, and video. He started it in 2023 with Ramie Raufdeen, who is chief technology officer.

Toronto, Waterloo, and big tech

Ragavan grew up in Toronto. He worked in product and technology roles at Microsoft and Instagram. Before HeyMilo, he and Raufdeen built a startup around job referrals.

At Microsoft and Instagram he also interviewed candidates, and he said on the Elite Recruiter Podcast that interviewing took a large share of his team's working weeks. That experience shaped HeyMilo's goal of running first-round screens for recruiters.

Starting at the second someone applies

HeyMilo focuses on staffing agencies and employers that hire hundreds of people at a time. “High-volume hiring only works if you can vet everyone fairly and send recruiters to the people who deserve their time,” Ragavan said in a company announcement. “We are changing how companies hire by changing what happens from the second a candidate applies.”
