Co-founder and CTO · Shadeform

GPU cloud Distributed systems

Why watch

Ding is the systems co-founder turning multi-cloud GPU supply into one API and console that AI teams can operate day to day.

Ronald Ding is co-founder and CTO of Shadeform, the unified GPU cloud platform he started in 2023 with Ed Goode. Before Shadeform he was an engineer and tech lead at Robinhood, AWS, and Microsoft, working on large-scale distributed infrastructure.

Infrastructure at AWS, Azure, and Robinhood

On the Y Combinator company page, Ding is listed as CTO with a background building and operating critical cloud infrastructure services at AWS and Azure, and knowing the pain of infra management as a customer at Robinhood. The founding story the team tells is that GPU shortages on the big three clouds pushed them to build one control plane that could reach many smaller GPU clouds with a shared API and console.

Making multi-cloud ML infra usable

In the YC launch post, the founders wrote that their goal is to make multi-cloud ML infrastructure simple: manage GPU instances on every provider from a single control plane, see pricing and availability, and deploy with one API. Ding’s role is the systems side of that claim - bending heterogeneous provider supply into something teams can script against without rewriting for each cloud.
