Why watch

Foley co-founded ModelOp after watching Fortune 500 teams get good at building models and stay weak at owning, governing and auditing them once they reached production.

Pete Foley is co-founder and chief executive of ModelOp, an AI governance platform that helps large and regulated companies inventory, risk-rank and oversee models, GenAI systems and agents across the business. He is a serial enterprise software chief executive.

Leading Earlier Infrastructure and Security Companies

Before ModelOp he was CEO of Infoblox, PortAuthority Technologies and RingCube Technologies, and he served as executive chairman of Graphite Systems, according to his ModelOp author page and public bios. Several of those companies were acquired by larger infrastructure and security vendors. He studied economics and political science at Yale University.

Seeing AI Stall at Operationalization

When he co-founded ModelOp, enterprises were pouring effort into building machine-learning models but few had a way to run them at scale, govern them across business lines or measure impact. "Our background in enterprise IT and data science told us this wasn't a tooling problem, it was a lifecycle and accountability problem," he told AiThority.

Turning Governance into an Acceleration Layer

ModelOp markets itself as an AI control tower. Foley argues governance should feel like acceleration rather than bureaucracy: automate risk reviews, policy checks and audit evidence so teams can launch faster with clearer ownership. He warns that GenAI embedded inside SaaS tools creates blind spots when nobody owns the chatbot or the agent that drifts off policy.

Governing Agents and Third-Party Models

As enterprises adopt large language models and agents, Foley's public focus has moved to inventory and accountability across hundreds of use cases. ModelOp integrates with existing data, IT service and development tools so governance rides along current processes instead of asking regulated companies to rip out their stack.

Personal Life

Foley is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and lives in San Francisco, California, with his wife Adrienne and their two children, according to a CMTA announcement when he joined that organization's board. He has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and has used his board role there to support research into treatments.
