Data quality Enterprise AI
Liu Tran believes most AI projects fail because companies cannot trust their data, and Validio's annual recurring revenue grew 800% in the year to March 2026 as enterprises raced to fix that.
“In the old days, we used to say ‘garbage in, garbage out’. In the AI era, everything is magnified: now it’s ‘garbage in, disaster out’,” Patrik Liu Tran said in March 2026. He is founder and CEO of Validio, a Stockholm, Sweden data quality platform used by Nordea, Canva, and AllianceBernstein.
Consulting on AI
Before Validio, Liu Tran advised some of the world's leading enterprises on their AI and data strategies. He saw time and again that AI projects rarely reached production, even with strong commitment from leadership, and that they failed for the same reason: bad data.
Founding Validio
He founded Validio in Sweden in 2019 to give enterprises a platform for data they could trust, built for scale in place of ad hoc monitoring and in-house scripts. The product now covers data quality, observability, lineage, and cataloging, and it can run inside a customer's own cloud.
Scaling Up
In March 2026 Validio raised a $30 million Series A led by Plural, with backing from Lakestar, J12, MongoDB founder Kevin Ryan, and Snowflake CMO Denise Persson. “He's an intensely driven founder,” Plural partner Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty said of Liu Tran.
