Data observability AI trust

Why watch

Kirwan turned Uber-scale experimentation pain into Bigeye, a data observability and AI trust platform for enterprises that cannot afford silent pipeline failures.

Kyle Kirwan is co-founder of Bigeye, the data observability and AI trust company he started with Egor Gryaznov. A former founding data scientist and product leader on Uber's experimentation platform, he is known for pushing data quality from manual tests toward automated observability.

Uber experimentation and a SQL rivalry

At Uber, Kirwan helped scale experimentation and data platforms during hypergrowth, standardizing metrics across thousands of A/B tests. He met Gryaznov after signing up for Uber's first SQL bootcamp - partly, company lore says, to check whether the new hire knew his stuff. They bonded over harder SQL challenges while working on pipelines for Uber's in-house A/B testing tool.

Founding Bigeye on data observability

With hundreds of petabytes and thousands of weekly data users, they saw that testing did not scale and that automation still needed human control. Experiments with machine learning on daily table profiles became the technique later called data observability. They co-founded Bigeye in 2019 to bring those lessons to enterprises; Kirwan has since taken product and strategy leadership roles as the company expanded into AI data trust.

On trustworthy data for AI

Public posts and company materials frame Bigeye around making enterprise AI initiatives rest on data teams can trust - lineage, quality monitoring, and policy - rather than hoping broken pipelines stay invisible.
