Santos helped build Boq, Google's internal development platform, and wants every fast-moving software team and coding agent to have that kind of build infrastructure.
Hugo Santos is co-founder and CEO of Namespace, a developer infrastructure company he founded in Zurich in 2022. Namespace runs faster CI runners, remote build caches, and development environments for engineering teams and AI coding agents.
Building Boq at Google
As a principal engineer at Google, he helped build Boq, the internal development platform used by a majority of Google products, including Search, YouTube, and Workspace, according to Namespace's about page. The team wrote that Boq let product teams focus on application code while the platform handled configuration, experimentation, and logging.
Starting Namespace in Zurich, Switzerland
"I started Namespace because I believe developers deserve better," he told Tech.eu in October 2026. "At Google, I saw how much great tools & infrastructure changes the way developers work. Outside of a handful of companies, that still doesn't exist." He has said the company starts where developers and their agents spend the whole day, in coding and continuous integration. Customers include Ramp, according to Scale Venture Partners.
