Allstadt is building a European meeting notetaker that turns calls into CRM updates and follow-ups, with EU data kept in the EU.
Raphael Allstadt is co-founder and chief executive of tl;dv, an Aachen, Germany, meeting intelligence company whose notetaker records and summarizes calls on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.
Studying at ETH Zürich
Allstadt studied at ETH Zürich and comes from geophysics, according to tl;dv and digitalHUB Aachen. His co-founders came from different fields: Carlo Thissen studied media and communication, and Allan Bettarel studied IT.
Starting Over in Aachen in 2020
The three met while building their first startup, Mosaeek, an app for video interaction. Its business model proved unworkable and the company failed, an experience Allstadt has since shared at a startup failure-stories event in Aachen. The team stayed together and founded tl;dv in Aachen in 2020, naming it for "too long, didn't view," with a product that recorded, transcribed, and marked up video meetings so absent colleagues could find what mattered.
Launching During the 2020 Pandemic
The pandemic pushed meetings online just as tl;dv launched, and early backing came from Seedcamp and two other early-stage funds. The company now reports more than 3 million users and has added CRM logging, follow-up drafts, and multi-meeting insights while keeping EU data on EU servers.
Personal Life
Allstadt is based in Aachen. tl;dv's team page says he was frustrated by meeting culture long before it became a common complaint, and that he was once the fastest burger assembler in Germany.
