Luminance
Luminance is a London legal AI company, founded by Cambridge mathematicians, whose own legal language models review, draft, and negotiate contracts for in-house legal teams and law firms.
In-house legal and commercial teams at mid-sized and multinational companies that handle a steady flow of NDAs, supplier agreements, and sales contracts and want review, redlining, and negotiation inside Microsoft Word.
Solo lawyers and very small firms that want a cheap self-serve tool, and teams whose contracts are full of unusual deal structures that need a lawyer's judgment on every clause.
Verdict
Luminance covers the whole life of a contract, from drafting and redlining in Word to negotiation and later questions about what the signed agreements say. It runs on its own legal models, which the company says were trained on more than 150 million legal documents, and it has started letting its AI negotiate NDAs against another company's AI. More than 700 organizations in 70 countries use it, including AMD, DHL, and LG Chem. Reviewers on G2 say it saves real time on contract review but still needs a lawyer to double-check unusual clauses. For in-house teams with steady contract volume, it is a strong recommendation.
Score Breakdown
These scores cover how accurate Luminance's contract review is, how well it drafts and negotiates, how well it fits into Word and other business systems, and how clear its pricing is, and then how it does as a company on innovation, communication, pricing, and contract terms.
Who Uses Luminance, Where It Fits on Price, and Its Competitors
Luminance sells mainly to in-house legal departments, with law firms as a second market. Legal teams use it to check incoming contracts against their own playbook, redline in Word, answer contract questions through its Lumi assistant, and flag key dates and obligations in signed agreements, and commercial, procurement, and HR teams often use it too. Luminance was founded in 2015, raised a $75 million Series C led by Point72 Private Investments in February 2025, and gets about half of its revenue from the US.
On price, Luminance sits at the enterprise end of contract software. Contracts are annual and quoted, and it offers a two-week free trial. Its closest competitors are LinkSquares, Spellbook, Juro, Ironclad, and Harvey.

Luminance does not publish a rate card. Prices are as of November 2026.

Review Excerpts
Excerpts from public reviews of Luminance.
“Usually, going through lengthy documents and cross-checking clauses takes hours, but this tool quickly highlights the key points and flags potential issues. The interface is clean and doesn't feel cluttered, which makes day-to-day work a lot smoother and saves serious time on document review.”
“Finding specific indemnity or liability clauses across 40-50 page documents was eating up most of the day. It now handles the heavy lifting of summarization and risk flagging within minutes.”
“It panics or flags false positives when faced with weirdly worded clauses or unusual deal structures that don't fit its pre-set playbook.”
“Sometimes it struggles a bit with very heavy, multi-page PDFs, and processing takes slightly longer than expected. Also, when exporting or copying formatted text back into Word, the indentations and clause formatting occasionally need manual cleanup.”
