ConfigCat

ConfigCat is a bootstrapped Budapest feature flag service with open-source SDKs, unlimited seats on every plan, and published prices from a free tier to a $4,500-a-month dedicated cloud, used by teams such as Speechify.

7.5/10
Overall Score
Recommend

ConfigCat is a strong fit for engineering teams that want simple, predictable feature flags without paying per seat or per monthly active user.

Best for

Small and mid-size software teams that want feature flags, percentage rollouts, and user targeting across many languages, with a flat monthly price that does not grow with headcount or traffic from end users.

Not ideal for

Product teams that want built-in A/B test statistics and warehouse-native experiment analysis, and buyers who need a large vendor with a long list of enterprise reference accounts.

Verdict

ConfigCat does the core job of a feature flag service well: targeting by user attribute, percentage rollouts, and SDKs for most major languages, at prices anyone can read before a sales call. Unlimited seats on every plan is a real advantage over tools that bill by user. It is thin on experimentation analysis, so teams that want to measure test results will need a second tool. For straightforward flag management, it is an easy recommendation.

Who Uses ConfigCat, Where It Fits on Price, and Its Competitors

ConfigCat's customers include Speechify, Modsy, FieldAware, and ControlPoint. Most use it to separate feature releases from code deployments, turn features on for chosen user groups, and roll changes out by percentage. The product offers open-source SDKs for .NET, Java, Android, iOS, Python, and other platforms, a hosted or on-premise option, and integrations with common developer tools. ConfigCat was started in 2018 by three former colleagues in Budapest, got its first paying customer in 2019, and has not raised outside funding.

On price, ConfigCat has a Forever Free plan and paid plans at $110, $325, and $900 a month, with a Dedicated private cloud at $4,500 a month. Annual billing saves up to 10%. Its closest competitors are Unleash, Flagsmith, GrowthBook, and Statsig.
