Yoav Shoham is co-founder and co-CEO of AI21 Labs, the enterprise generative-AI company he started after a career as a Stanford computer-science professor and Google principal scientist. A Fellow of AAAI and ACM, he previously founded and sold TradingDynamics, Katango, and Timeful before launching AI21 in 2017.
Stanford, game theory, and the AI Index
Shoham's academic work spans artificial intelligence, logic, and game theory, including widely used textbooks with Kevin Leyton-Brown and massive open online courses on game theory. He also initiated the AI Index to track activity and progress in the field for a public audience.
Serial founder into AI21
His company path includes TradingDynamics (sold to Ariba), Katango and Timeful (both sold to Google), and a principal-scientist stint at Google through 2017. AI21 Labs followed as a platform company for enterprise language models and applications, with Shoham as co-CEO alongside Ori Goshen in company materials.
