Canny

Bootstrapped Changelog & feedback boards
Why watch Hum is turning feedback boards into AI that reads sales and support conversations so product teams stop missing what customers already said.

Sarah Hum is co-founder of Canny, the customer-feedback and changelog platform she started with Andrew Rasmussen in 2017 after they met as a designer and engineer at Meta. Canny stayed bootstrapped and profitable; Hum runs product and is the public face while Rasmussen leads engineering.

Meta designer into a feedback company

Canny's about page says Hum and Rasmussen met at Meta and launched Canny as feature-voting boards for SaaS teams. Thousands of companies adopted the boards, which gave the founders a close look at how feedback still got lost in calls and tickets.

From boards to AI customer intelligence

Under Hum's product leadership, Canny expanded into Autopilot AI that captures feedback from sales and support conversations, ties requests to revenue, and closes the loop with changelogs. The company still emphasizes answering to customers rather than investors as a bootstrapped business.
