Series AAgent platforms & frameworks
Why watch Bhagwat is trying to make TypeScript the default place developers ship agents, with the same docs seriousness the Gatsby team brought to the web.

Sam Bhagwat is co-founder of Mastra with Abhi Aiyer and Shane Thomas. The trio came out of the Gatsby ecosystem and started Mastra after an NYC AI hackathon, arguing that people were stuck in Python notebooks instead of shipping TypeScript agents. Spark Capital led the company's $22 million Series A.

After Gatsby

Bhagwat, Aiyer, and Thomas carried open-source instincts from Gatsby into Mastra's docs, community, and release cadence. Spark's note leans on that trust as much as on the technical stack.

TypeScript agents as product features

Mastra's public story is that agents are becoming features inside ordinary web applications, and those applications already run on TypeScript. The framework bundles agents, workflows, memory, and observability for that path.
