Ravhon tried and failed to build cloud cost tracking in-house at Logz.io, then co-founded Finout, which now tracks cloud and AI spend for companies such as Lyft and Wiz.
Roi Ravhon is co-founder and CEO of Finout, a Tel Aviv, Israel, company founded in 2021 that shows companies what they spend on cloud services and AI, broken down by team, product and customer.
Serving in Unit 8200
He started his career in the Israeli intelligence Unit 8200, where he was trained in programming and spent seven years. He told Pitango the unit was doing DevOps work before DevOps had a name.
Joining Logz.io in Tel Aviv, Israel
After the army he joined Logz.io as a DevOps engineer when it had 10 people working out of a bridal salon in the Tel Aviv port. Over almost six years he rose to director of core engineering, according to Finout, and took charge of the company's cloud bills. As Logz.io spread across more cloud services and regions, it became hard to tell what each customer and business unit cost. The team tried to build that view in-house on top of a leading cost tool and, in his words, failed miserably.
Launching Finout on Thanksgiving
He left to start Finout with former Logz.io colleague Asaf Liveanu and longtime friend Yizhar Gilboa. They launched the company on Thanksgiving, he recalled, then watched the football game. Finout now covers spend on cloud AI services, direct model contracts and AI coding tools alongside standard cloud bills.
