Jeremiah Lowin

Jeremiah Lowin is founder and CEO of Prefect, the workflow orchestration company he started in 2018. A data practitioner turned founder, he positioned Prefect around observable, Pythonic flows — and later work such as FastMCP — for teams running data and AI pipelines in production.

Why Prefect exists

Prefect's own founder story describes Lowin turning repeated production failures in data work into a company. The product thesis is that orchestration should be something developers can read and debug, with states and retries visible when pipelines break at 2 a.m.

Open source, cloud, and AI-adjacent tooling

As CEO he grew Prefect's open-source engine and cloud control plane, and has continued shipping developer tools aimed at the same audience as data and AI platform teams. His public writing and talks stay close to the craft of reliable workflow software.
