AI IPO Statistics: 2026 Report

A group of AI companies has gone public on US stock exchanges since the start of 2024. How their shares have done shows how public investors are pricing AI businesses.

Our analysts studied those companies, through early October 2026. We measured how much they raised and how their shares traded from the first day through October 7, 2026. Twelve AI companies listed in that period, all on Nasdaq, and together they raised $85.82 billion. Their median first-day return was 26.3%, and their median return from IPO price to October 7, 2026 was 22.1%.

In the following sections, we list the AI IPOs since 2024, compare their first-day returns and returns since listing, and count IPO activity by year.

Before looking at returns, it helps to know the companies themselves. The AI Industry Reviews research team listed what each one sells, how much it raised and where its IPO price landed against the range it first set.

AI IPO First-Day Returns

The first day of trading is when the wider market first puts its own price on a new company, and a big jump that day means the shares were sold for less than buyers were willing to pay.

What AI IPO Trends Mean for 2027 and Beyond

AI companies that have gone public since 2024 have had very different fortunes, and a strong first day of trading said little about how the stock did afterward. A few large offerings raised most of the money, so the market's picture of AI public offerings is shaped by a handful of names.

More large AI companies are likely to go public while markets stay open to them, especially in infrastructure. After the mixed results so far, investors may push harder on price and ask for clearer paths to profit before buying in. A sharp drop in AI stocks could close that window quickly.

So if you are thinking of buying shares in a new AI offering, judge the company on its business rather than its first-day jump, because early gains have not predicted later returns.

Data Collection and Methodology

An AI IPO here is a listing on Nasdaq or the New York Stock Exchange, priced from January 2024 through October 7, 2026, that raised at least $100 million, was not priced at $10.00 (the standard unit price for blank-check companies, or SPACs), and whose final prospectus (Form 424B4) mentions AI in the first sentence of its business overview as part of what the company builds or sells. Of the 205 offerings in that period that raised $100 million or more and were not priced at $10.00, as listed on Nasdaq's IPO calendar, 12 met that test, and all 12 listed on Nasdaq.

Price ranges come from each company's registration statements (Form S-1, or Form S-11 for Fermi) and, for Astera Labs, its launch press release. First-day open and close and the October 7, 2026 close come from Nasdaq.com historical quotes. OneStream was bought by the investment firm Hg on April 1, 2026, for $24.00 a share in cash, so its latest value is that takeout price. First-day return is the first closing price divided by the IPO price, minus one. Return since IPO is the October 7, 2026 close divided by the IPO price, minus one.

Several large IPOs were left out under the first-sentence rule. Hinge Health and Liftoff mention AI in the second sentence of their overviews. Netskope's first sentence describes "security and networking for the era of cloud and AI," which places AI as the setting for its product. Pony AI and WeRide describe themselves as autonomous driving companies, and Figma describes itself as a place where teams design digital products. SK hynix was left out because its July 2026 US offering was of depositary shares in a company already listed in Korea.

The first-sentence rule is strict and leaves out companies that use AI heavily but describe themselves another way, such as several of the companies listed above. It also leaves out offerings under $100 million. Returns use closing prices as reported by Nasdaq.com, before dividends, and are measured from the IPO price at which underwriters sold the shares. Base offering size is shares offered times the IPO price and leaves out shares sold later when underwriters use their option to buy more.
